What does 30 C mean on a LiPo battery?
The C rating for a LiPo battery, quite simply, refers to the capacity of energy the battery can safely discharge, represented as a multiple of its overall capacity. There are battery packs out there rated at 30C, 45C, and even 70C that will deliver (in our 2000mAh example) 60, 90, and 140 amps.
How long does it take to charge a 2200mah LiPo battery?
My lipos usually charge in 35 to 45 minutes depending what I take out of them. I fly light 3d for 6 minutes and not a second more. All my lipos are 2200 mah 25c 3s. Mine takes around an hour with an E-Flight balance charger.
What does 25c mean on LiPo?
C is the rated capacity, which in your case is 5.2Ah. We conventionally drop the hour unit to calculate the current in Cs. 25C is therefore a current of 130A. https://electronics.stackexchange.com/questions/231828/what-is-the-meaning-of-25c/231831#231831.
When should you stop using a LiPo battery?
Never leave your LiPo batteries sitting around on a full charge for more than 2-3 days. If by the 3rd day you realize you are not going to use your battery today, you need to discharge your battery down to 3.6v-3.8v per cell for safe storage until you are ready to use the battery again.
How do you charge a 2200mAh LiPo battery?
So, for example, if you have the above mentioned 2200mAh 20C Lipo, you must set your charger to charge it at 2.2Amps, and then discharge it again at 2.2Amps. It is recommended to put new batteries through 6-7 break in cycles at 1C, before putting them in a model.
What is the C rating?
The C Rating is defined by the rate of time it takes to charge or discharge a battery. An example of this is if a battery amperage is 2000mAh or 2Ah and has a 1C rate, then it will take 60mins to charge or discharge the battery. 1C rating is the base time which is always equivalent to 1 hour or 60mins.
What Lipo C rating do I need?
Having the battery pack with the highest C rating is always best for the power system and battery pack health. It is best to have a discharge rate overhead of 30%. If you work out a maximum power system discharge of 100 amps. Your battery pack should should deliver at least 30% more or 130 total amps.
Should I discharge LiPo battery?
LiPo batteries also don’t develop memory or voltage depression characteristics like NiCd/NiHm batteries, and do not need to be discharged before being charged. But they’re not without their downside. Mishandling of these batteries can lead to fire, explosions and toxic smoke inhalation.
What’s the difference between 20C and 30c Lipo?
technically, it is supposed to define the maximum output that the lipo pack can sustain until discharged. 20C = 20 X C or 20 X capacity. so on and so forth for 30C, 40C ect… For example, a 2200 mAh lipo pack with a 30C rating is supposed to be able to support 2200mAh (or 2.2Ah) X 30 load which is 66 amps.
How many charge cycles does a LiPo battery have?
It seems to deliver the power I need to power my electric T-28 R/C airplane. So far, this battery has around 75 charge / discharge cycles and no swelling of the battery or anything out of the ordinary. Very happy with it. Normally a great lipo!
Is the eflite LiPo battery a good battery?
I have a few eFlite lipos and they are great quality batteries. Bought this one as a ‘used – like new’. Battery looked great, no scratches or damage. All cells were below 3.2 at 1.8 ,2.4 and 2.8! Could not charge or recover battery.
Is the turnigy 3s 2200 20c battery more expensive?
Yes they are a little more expensive, however you get what you pay for. I have tried the Turnigy 3S 2200 20C as an alternate and flight times in my 350QX are less than half the time in the air under the same conditions. In fact I have had 2 fly away and crash instances because of unpredictable cell discharge/balance rates with cheaper batteries.
